On April 27, 1947 Jackie Robinson desegregated Major League Baseball. And went on to become inducted into the baseball hall of fame. Robinson was a phenomenal athlete. While attending UCLA, he became the first athlete to letter in four sports: baseball, basketball, football, & track.
To begin the 1997 season, MLB retired Robinson's number 42 from the game for good ensuring no player on any team could were the venerable number.
